Recruit Training

Training will challenge you both mentally and physically. You will be trained to become a soldier in the Canadian Army.

Some of the areas of instruction include:

• First Aid
• Fieldcraft (outdoor survival)
• Weapons handling
• Drill (marching)
• General service knowledge
• The use of military equipment; and
• Teamwork

Enrollment

Service in the Reserve Force is voluntary and is for an indefinite period of service. Reservists are enrolled to serve on a part time basis but they may volunteer for full time employment in the Canadian Forces.

There is a minimum number of day’s service you must give each year to your unit.

Your future in the Army Reserve is up to you. After you complete the recruiting process you will be loaded on BMQ (Basic Military Qualification), then on to your SQ (Soldier Qualifications). After BMQ and SQ, you will receive training in your chosen trade.

Your pay will increase according to your rank and time in.
