Over 100 high school students from the North East Kings Educational Centre, Park View Educational Centre, West Kings High School, and New Germany High School attended the Infantry Reserve Open House.
Students were introduced to many elements of the Infantry Reserve, these included: a static weapon system display, a section attack in urban environment, target practice in the Small Arms Trainer Simulator (SATS), indoor urban operations training and a typical military style Hay Box lunch.

The West Nova Scotia Regiment is a Primary Reserve infantry regiment of the Canadian Forces, twenty fourth in the order of precedence. It has seen active service in both the Great War and World War II. The Regiment recruits volunteers from all over the province of Nova Scotia and its headquarters is located at LFAATC Aldershot, near the community of Aldershot, Nova Scotia.
The commitment of a Reservist in our unit is to work one evening a week (usually Thursdays) and up to two weekends per month.
In the first few years, you will also need to be available for portions of the summer to take your trade qualification courses.
If you are employed, we will provide you with information on the Canadian Forces Liaison Council, which will work with you to obtain the necessary time off from your employer so that you can pursue essential military training.
