An active military presence in the Outaouais
The Canadian Forces Primary Reserve, known as the Militia, is the Land Force Reserve.
Le Régiment de Hull, formed on 7 August 1914, is a unit of the Reserve Armoured Corps and remains the only Francophone unit in the National Capital Region. The Regiment is housed in Salaberry Armoury, which has been identified as an historic site. This building was the scene of the recruitment of many of the region's citizens during World War II.
Today, some of our members are actively involved in missions overseas, as part of NATO or the UN. We have also helped Canadians in emergency situations, such as the ice storm in January 1998.
