The Regiment is continually looking for new members. We recruit on a year-round basis and a recruit training course usually begins every two or three months.
The Regiment is the only Francophone Reserve unit in the National Capital Region. All training is given in French and routine operations are conducted in French. While we encourage Anglophones and Allophones to join us, you must be able to communicate in French, both orally and in writing.
Generally speaking, there are two types of position available in the Regiment :
There are also a limited number of support positions available, in areas such as administration, finance and supply.
As a member of the Reserves you will receive a salary based on a daily rate calculated on the basis of rank and military qualifications. A private soldier earns approximately $77 per day. Depending on the training calendar and availability, a private can earn $375 a month from September to May and up to $3,675 over the summer period.
Promotions are granted on the basis of merit and skills. A full range of benefits is available, including several kinds of insurance. While working, the uniform and equipment required are provided, as are rations and accommodations.
