4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group - Land Force Western Area (LFWA)

Land Forces Western Area (LFWA) is home to 4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (4 CRPG) which covers British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Its headquarters are located in Victoria, B.C.

There are over 1000 Canadian Rangers in 4 CRPG, located in 42 patrols or communities.
There are 674 Junior Canadian Rangers in 4 CRPG, located in 28 patrols or communities.

Canadian Rangers in British Columbia have been instrumental in the past in helping the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and local enforcement officials to patrol the western coast and waters of Canada. Canadian Rangers have assisted police forces in watching for illegal immigrants in Canada's waters and have conducted many search and rescue (SAR) operations in place of and alongside the RCMP all across its area of responsibility.

The Junior Canadian Ranger Programme is a highly successful component of 4 CRPG and in 2011 opened the first ever urban JCR patrol in Winnipeg.

4 CRPG publishes a quarterly bulletin called The Ranger which is full of Canadian Ranger stories, tips and practical information not only for Canadian Rangers, but for anyone who is interested in surviving out on the land.
