10 May 2017 – Montréal, Quebec – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

In light of the floods and the state of emergency declared in a number of municipalities in Quebec, including Montréal, the 2nd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force East announce that the military activities organized to mark the 375th anniversary of Montréal, which were scheduled to take place from 12 May to 20 May, have been revised.

Announced by news release on 27 April 2017, the military activities program included two air shows, a military vehicles and equipment exhibit, a parade and a music concert.

“The military activities organized as part of Montréal’s 375th anniversary celebrations were a way for us to express our profound gratitude to the population of Montreal for their enduring support and to celebrate that which units us: our history, our shared values, and our common heritage. However, in the current circumstances, the best way for us to thank the population and to underline the strength of the ties that bind us, is to concentrate our efforts and continue to provide assistance with the operations led by civilian authorities to help those in need.”

Brigadier-General Hercule Gosselin, Commander, 2nd Canadian Division
