Live-fire training season begins at CFB Suffield

Ralston, Alberta – April 25, 2017

The peak training season will begin at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield with Exercise PRAIRIE STORM 1, a live-fire training exercise conducted by the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) from May 2 to June 4, 2017.

Training activities will happen intermittently, day and night, throughout the training season within the Range and Training Area of CFB Suffield. Those who live, work or travel near the Base may hear loud noises and observe weapons effects resulting from the exercises.

CFB Suffield reminds the public not to pick up or handle ammunition, such as bombs, grenades, mortar rounds or artillery shells. If any ammunition is discovered, do not move or disturb the item. Please notify the Medicine Hat Police Service (403-529-8481) or your nearest police detachment for assistance.

Those members of the public who wish to use the portion of the South Saskatchewan River that runs through the Base are asked to contact CFB Suffield Range Control (403-544-4310) to confirm which dates have unrestricted access.
