Canadian Army Command Team’s Statement for Father’s Day 2017

Statement / June 16, 2017 / Project number: 17-0147

June 18, 2017 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Lieutenant-General Paul Wynnyk Commander Canadian Army, issued the following statement:

“On this Father’s Day, Chief Warrant Officer Alain Guimond and I want to pay tribute to all fathers who are part of the Canadian Army family. These courageous and selfless men offer us their sage advice and constant encouragement, and it is through their love and support that we are made stronger as individuals and stronger as an institution.

“Every day, fathers offer us the very best of themselves. This year, we especially want to recognize those fathers who have lost loved ones, who support our ill and injured, or who themselves have been injured as a result of military service; their sacrifices and dedication should never be taken for granted.

“In the Canadian Army, we share unique challenges and experiences such as deployments, training, and demanding work schedules. This makes family time particularly precious, and I encourage all members of the Canadian Army, and their families, to celebrate Father’s Day as a reminder of what truly matters.

“I invite everyone to join me, along with CWO Guimond, in thanking the remarkable men in our lives. I wish all of you a wonderful Father’s Day.”
