Exercise Maple Resolve 2018 (Ex MR 18) officially starts on 13 May running until 24 May.

This exercise is the most comprehensive Canadian Army training event of the year, involving approximately 6000 troops, primarily from 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (5 CMBG) based in Valcartier.

Ex MR 18 is designed and delivered by the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Center (CMTC), based in Wainwright, Alberta.

  • The end-goal of the exercise is to certify the readiness of participating units to deploy to anywhere in the world, at any time.
  • Ex MR 18 enables elements of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and our allies to work together in the most realistic setting, short of an actual deployment.
  • CMTC’s mission is to design and deliver full-spectrum, immersive, joint and collective training events for the Canadian Armed Forces in a complex Contemporary Operating Environment in order to certify High-Readiness forces. In conjunction with the Royal Canadian Air Force, CMTC is a focal point in the Air Land Integration of the CAF. While major exercises are conducted within the Wainwright training area, support to exercises and training is exportable to any location.
