When We Train

September to June:

  • Tuesday evenings
  • 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • one weekend per month.

Full-time summer employment is available from May to August.

Mission Task

A number of Army Reserve units have been assigned specific Mission Tasks. Members within these units are trained in these specific capabilities and ready to be fully integrated, as a formed entity, into the Regular Force units that they reinforce.

The mission task for our unit is: Light Urban Search and Rescue – A troop of 35 members, which is trained in specialized rescue skills and the use of rescue tools, including search techniques, first aid, and structural integrity assessments, to provide support to civil authorities in situations of urban disaster emergencies.

Who We Are

The 2nd Field Artillery Regiment is a Reserve unit within the Canadian Army composed of reserve gunners. The vast majority of Regiment members serve in the army on a part-time basis and attend school or hold other civilian jobs. The 2nd Field Artillery Regiment consists of two sub-units known as batteries, namely, 7th Battery and 50th Battery. Our unit has approximately 120 members.

Trained and ready for combat, the Regiment is prepared to assist provincial and territorial authorities in the event of natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, storms and forest fires. As part of the Army, the mandate of the Regiment is to defend Canada and North America and to have the skills and capability necessary to respond to a wide variety of potential threats to national security.
