Functional Centre of Excellence (FCoE)

2 Cdn Div TC is the FCoE for Reserve BMQ, BMQ-L and DP1 Infantryman. As a FCoE, 2 Cdn Div TC has a duty to keep course material up to date, apply course amendments and contact the other training centres in Canada with regard to any suggested improvements or problems.

Language Training Centre

2 Cdn Div TC is also responsible for the Language Training Centre (LTC), 2nd Canadian Division Support Base Valcartier’s language school. The LTC assesses the second language of soldiers and civilians of the Garrison. It also provides short-term and medium-term (up to a year) second language training.

Training support

Simulation training.

With its Simulation Centre (SC), 2 Cdn Div TC provides virtual and construction simulation training and more for 2nd Division. The SC provides the following courses:

  • Virtual simulation training (SAT-ICGS-CSMI-ITS and IFFS).
  • Digitization training (SACAC and TCCS).
  • Level 2 to 7 constructive simulation training (Level 2 to 5 VBS 2 and levels 6 and 7 JCATS).

Reserve training.

2 Cdn Div TC trains the Reserve Force at CFB Valcartier during the annual military focus. This exercise is important Reserve training given in the late summer, at the end of ITST, and includes the units of both 2 Cdn Div Reserve brigades.

In addition, throughout the year, 2 Cdn Div TC supports the instruction of Reserve units that come to train at CFB Valcartier by providing technical support, loaning facilities and equipment, and supporting their food needs.

Camp Vimy

Camp Vimy

Camp Vimy

Camp Vimy provides lodgings, food, medical care, command and logistics support for military training.

Completely dedicated to supporting ITST, Camp Vimy can house 2,000 soldiers for a sustained period of instruction. In addition, for the past three years, 2 Cdn Div TC has been welcoming nearly 300 Naval Reserve members at Camp Vimy, where they take basic training.

During the LP, Camp Vimy welcomes units from Division formations that want to train. Although Camp Vimy was initially designed for use during the summer, some sections of the camp can be used year-round.
