Land Force Atlantic Area Training Centre (15.6 kb)

The Land Force Atlantic Area Training Centre (LFAA TC) conducts, in LFAA's Area of Operations, modern and realistic individual training and other assigned tasks, with a view to preparing soldiers for the Contemporary Operating Environment, with particular emphasis on developing leadership, war-fighting skills, initiative and mental agility in adaptive and dispersed operations.

The focus of the Training Centre is "operational individual training" conducted within a climate of quiet professional efficiency and effectiveness. The overriding goal is the production of well-trained soldiers and leaders ready to undertake High Readiness Training for operations. All training conducted at LFAA TC is structured towards the audience. Members of the staff work diligently, drawing on their personal operational experiences, to make the training realistic, relevant, interesting and rewarding.

LFAA TC has an establishment of over 200 personnel, including members of the Regular Force, the Reserve Force and civilians. Year-round individual training is delivered at CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, and at the Training Centre Detachment Aldershot in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Training can be tasked tailored to accommodate force generation or mission specific requirements of the Atlantic Area.

LFAA TC HQ and Detachment Aldershot are each comprised of a Headquarters, an Operations Cell, an Individual Training Cell and a Standards Cell. In addition, all first-level resources required to support the immediate training requirements are embedded in the LFAA TC. This includes supply, transport, kitting and maintenance functions.

LFAA TC is dedicated to producing world-class soldiers and leaders capable of overcoming the unique challenges that face Canada today and into the future.
