Area Social Worker's Office

The ASWO is responsible for providing counselling and assistance to members of the Canadian Forces, their spouses and children. These services are available to all military units within the Provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The ASWO is a professionally trained social worker who offers a range of confidential counselling services to military members and their families. The ASWO is in regular contact with other military helping professionals and their civilian counterparts.

Members and their spouses can be referred to the ASWO through their units, chaplains, medical officers, themselves, or anyone.

The ASWO keeps all calls for information and counselling confidential. CONFIDENTIALITY IS MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.

The ASWO conducts screening interviews for any overseas, isolated and semi-isolated postings, as well as UN tours. Services are also provided for marriage counselling, personal counselling, crisis intervention, separation and divorce counselling, information and referral, and family counselling.

The ASWO is available to units and community groups to give lectures and presentations on a wide range of topics, as well as for consultation and assistance.
