The Charlottetown Detachment is a Support Detachment of 3 ASG Technical Services Branch that officially stood up 1 April 1991, as a direct result of the closure of CFB Summerside. Its mission is to provide administrative, financial, supply and maintenance support to the Regular Force, the Reserves and Cadet Units on Prince Edward Island.
At present, the Detachment consists of one Warrant Officer (2IC), two Sergeants (Chief Clerk and Maintenance Supervisor), one Master Corporal (RMS), two Corporals (Supply and Maintenance) and three civilians. It is supervised by the Detachment Commander in Moncton.
The Detachment is housed in a 13,200 square foot leased facility at 88 Watts Avenue, West Royalty Industrial Park, Charlottetown. On the administration side, all personnel posted to or from PEI, all releases and most other Base Orderly Room functions are handled though the Detachment Orderly Room. On the finance side, the processing of all claims, pay and control of the Detachment's operating budget are the normal work routine. Supply is responsible for the receipt, control and issue of all material to all units on PEI. Maintenance has the responsibilities of performing all first-line repairs, a limited second-line as tasked by the support base for vehicles and equipment held by units on PEI, and is also responsible for recovery operations on PEI.
