3 ASG Headquarters

3 ASG Headquarters consists of the Commander and his Chief of Staff along with the Regimental Sergeant-Major. To assist and advise the Commander in carrying out his responsibilities with regard to support to CTC Schools, units, operational and lodger units, the staff functions under the direction of the Chief of Staff. The staff consists of:

  1. G1 - Administration;
  2. G3 - Operations;
  3. G4 - Logistics;
  4. G6 - Communications;
  5. Comptroller - Finance;
  6. Area Engineer; and
  7. Public Affairs Information Services and civilian liaison.

The G1, G3, G4, G6 and Area Engineer are also double hatted as Commanding Officers of Administration Branch, Operations Branch, Technical Services Branch, 3 ASG Signal Squadron and 3 ASG Engineer Branch respectively.

G1 Staff

The G1 staff is responsible to the Commander 3 ASG for provision of advice and services for all aspects of administrative and personnel support for CFB Gagetown. The G1 staff controls support from Food Services, Accommodations, Military Personnel Support Services (MPSS), Personnel Selection, Military Police, Chaplains and the Language School. The G1 staff also coordinates support from the CF Personnel Support Agency (PSP, SISIP, CANEX and Family Services), the CF Housing Agency, legal services, dental services, Medical Services and Public Affairs. The G1 staff has overall responsibility for implementation and monitoring of all aspects of DND/CF administrative/personnel policy, procedures and regulations with respect to both military and civilian employees of CFB Gagetown.

G3 Staff

The G3 staff is responsible for the operations, plans, aviation coordination, flight safety, Meteorological Centre, Range Control and Range and Training Area development functions for the ASG. The focus of the G3 organization will continue to be 3 ASG operations and support to CTC or visiting units/formations training.

Support to the training of the CTC schools and visiting units or formations occupies most of the efforts of the G3 organization, which includes all services related to the Ranges and Training Area and meteorological support. The coordination of the 3 ASG operations, visits, provision of services and major events remains a high priority and the focus of the Operations and Plans sections.

G4 Staff

The G4 staff is responsible to the Commander 3 ASG for coordinating service support required by 3 ASG and CTC units and schools, and by visiting units and formations. The Headquarters for the Technical Services Branch is responsible for all aspects of service support, including transportation, material supply and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

G6 Staff

The G6 staff is responsible for the coordination and control of Command and Control Information Systems (CCIS). This cell provides the staff planning for and implementation of Automatic Data Processing (ADP) equipment, tactical and infrastructure communications and cryptography. This includes the formulation of policy, the development of long-range plans and the acquisition of new equipment. The G6 is double hatted as the Commanding Officer of 3 ASG Signals Squadron.

Comptroller

The 3 ASG Comptroller is responsible to the Commander 3 ASG for providing cost capturing, recoveries, resource management information, accounts payable, acquisition card coordination and financial information services which includes budgeting, Activity Base Costing coordination and a FMAS Help Desk.

Area Engineer

The Area Engineer is responsible to the Commander 3 ASG for advising him on the design, construction and maintenance of works and buildings. This includes fire and crash protection and the management of real property, utilities and municipal services. The Area Engineer is double hatted as the Commanding Officer of 3 ASG Engineer Branch.

Public Affairs

The Public Affairs Office (PAffO) provides the Commander CTC and the Commander 3 ASG with advice and guidance on all Public Affairs matters. The office is also responsible for providing Public Affairs assistance to all Units, Branches and Sections and is the primary point of contact in dealing with the media, ensuring maximum coverage of all CFB Gagetown activities and Army programs. Further, the PAffO is responsible for community relations and public inquiries.
