Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright has been at the centre of the Canadian Army’s operational effectiveness since 1941. Preparing units for the Second World War, the Korean War, service Afghanistan, Wainwright is Canada’s first class location for collective training.
Located in rural eastern Alberta, CFB Wainwright enjoys the warm prairie hospitality of the citizens of the Town and the Municipal District of Wainwright.
The Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre (CMTC), the centre of excellence for collective training, and the Land Forces Western Area Training Centre (LFWATC), Western Canada·s centre of excellence for individual training, make their home here. We also support training of the units of 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (1 CMBG), based in Edmonton, and the reserve units of Land Forces Western Area.
Whether you are passing through, staying for a short time or remaining for several years, we extend a hearty welcome and wish you a pleasant stay.
