Chief Warrant Officer David A. Lee, CD

CWO DA Lee

CWO Dave Lee was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and joined the Canadian Forces (CF) in January 1979. After completing his Basic Training in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, he undertook his basic armour training at Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadian) in Calgary, AB. He completed his Combat Leaders Course at the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry School in Wainwright, AB and was promoted MCpl in April 1982.

CWO Lee completed the Advance Winter Warfare Instructors course in March 1983 at the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry School in Wainwright AB and also completed the Combat Arms Advance Driver Course in December 1983 at the Armour School, Combat Training Center, in Gagetown, NB. The following year he completed his Sergeant qualification and was promoted in August 1984. CWO Lee remained with the Regiment employed as a tank crew commander, Troop Sergeant and Reconnaissance Patrol Commander until posted in August 1986.

In August 1986, he was posted to the Prince Edward Island Regiment as the training Sergeant in Summerside, PEI. While in Summerside, CWO Lee was part of the Directing Staff (DS) for several Armour and Reconnaissance competitions held yearly.

In July 1989, he was posted back to the Strathcona’s in Calgary, AB and was employed in several positions as a Troop Sergeant in Regimental Recce, Troop Warrant, in A and B Squadron and as the rear party Leopard Implementation Team. In November 1990 CWO Lee completed Combat Arms Advance Communication Course. In 1992 CWO Lee completed the Armour Troop Warrant Officer Course.

In 1993, CWO Lee was promoted to Warrant Officer and the following year 1994 was posted to the Armour School. CWO Lee was employed as an instructor in Tactics Squadron, as the standards Warrant Officer and as the school Technical Quarter Master Stores (TQMS).

In 2000 CWO Lee was posted to the Fort Garry Horse in Winnipeg Manitoba as the Ops Warrant and started preparation for the year long French Course.

In 2001 instead of attending the year long French course he was selected to return to the regiment as the Sergeant Major of Reconnaissance Squadron and as the TQMS.

In 2006 CWO Lee was posted to Kingston Ontario as the G3 Training Officer.

Through his military career, CWO Lee served on three overseas missions: Cyprus 1979, Cambodia 1993 and Afghanistan 2002. He has been awarded the Commander in Chief Commendation and the Bronze Star.

In July 2008, he was appointed RSM of the ASU Wainwright.
